Historically, Seminole County public schools have been the best in the state even though Seminole's per-pupil funding is among the state's lowest. But state level budget cuts threaten our ability to maintain the quality of our schools. In fact, we are starving our public education system because my opponent and his corporate sponsors want to turn larger and larger chunks of our kids' education over to for-profit interests.

Corporate tax revenue is now funding a voucher program that spends money that belongs to public education on a voucher program for for private schools. My opponent and his corporate sponsors in Tallahassee are putting corporate profits ahead of our children's interests, dumping millions into for-profit ventures with virtually no accountability and significantly lower standards than our public schools.

We've got to stop letting the FCAT hold hostage our teachers, students, school districts, and families. Instead of teaching to a rigidly standardized test, we should be equipping our children to perform and compete in the marketplace of the future.

By every conceivable standard, we've enjoyed a great school system here in Seminole County with a proven track record of success. It would be a tragedy to allow Chris Dorworth and his cronies in Tallahassee to continue with its systematic dismantling.
